This post is just a shout out to the New York Yankees. Lots of citizens of PixelYork are feeling down today as their beloved Yankees were once again eliminated from the playoffs. It was a long and tough season that once again ended in disappointment. Here is hoping that Joe Torre is around next year. If not, it was a great run and I think I speak for all fans when I say that he did an incredible job managing the Yankees and had the respect of everyone from the players, fans, and opposing teams. Please share your favorite Yankees moments this year. Mine was the callup for Joba Chamberlain! That guy is going to be a great PRO!
Now onto some CityPixel news. The mayor just shared a bunch of new things on the horizon, but I also wanted to mention that similar to customizing properties, you will soon have the ability to create and design your own Avatar also. More details to follow in another post! Keep up the suggestions!
Thanks,
~The Commish
Greetings Citizens:
Just a quick note to inform you of some upgrades we’re working on…
First, the homepage has been revisited. The current static statistics will be updated automatically. Also, the featured cubes, cars and apartments will be rotated a lot more often. (Keep an eye out for yourself - then tell all your friends!)
Next, the toolbar inside PixelYork is being updated. We’ve been getting feedback on the user interface, and we’re reacting to it as quickly as possible. Hopefully the changes make youe experience inside our little digital city better.
Finally, our myspace and facebook plug-ins/apps are coming along nicely. A few people are testing them for us now. If you’re interested in helping, drop me a line and we’ll get the ball rolling.
In closing, I just want to point out that you will notice that you’re receiving more pixels every time you log in. Keep exploring the city, keep making friends, and use those pixels!

It’s official, not only can you design apartments and office cubes in CityPixel, you can also purchase a car with some Pixels and then customize it to your liking. Remember you can earn Pixels various ways, for example by logging into PixelYork and expanding your network with new friends. Also don’t forget to answer the trivia question to earn evn more pixels.
Anyway, back to pimping rides…trust me it’s very fun to partake in, check out my new car:
You can go ahead and purchase your car to customize by logging into CityPixel, going to the “me” link and then selecting the “car” link.
Lastly earn some more Pixels (to purchase the car) by answering this automobile related trivia question. First three to email me correctly wins.

What year were radios first offered in automobiles?
Good luck!

It’s sad that we live in a world that still gives OJ Simpson publicity. Oh well, I guess the news will discuss/show anything that grabs a user’s attention. Speaking of OJ, maybe you can re-enact the infamous Ford Bronco scene in PixelYork by designing your very own white vehicle (as the Mayor mentioned) and show it off to your friends.
As the NFL Football season is in full swing now, I am not quite sure how I feel. For one thing, both NY teams, err - should I say NJ - ha, are a combined 0-4 to start the season. Not so good. Nonetheless with the baseball season winding down, the playoff races are getting tighter every day, making things very interesting. What team(s) are you rooting for? Which ones do you want to see in CityPixel one day in the future?
Anyhow, I have gotten some great feedback from some users, so please continue to email/post what you want to see added to CityPixel one day.

Today marks the sixth anniversary of the most horrific attack on US soil during this generation. Since PixelYork is based on New York City, how can we at CityPixel pay tribute to 9/11 within our virtual city? Please share your thoughts and suggestions!
And while we are on the topic of suggestions, don’t hold back. Please let us know how we can improve your experience at CityPixel. We are always here listening!

Hey Citizens,
Mayor here. Just wanted to draw your attention to the new arcade. It’s on Northern Ave. I’m in there chillin’ as I type. Just played tennis courtesy of miniclip.com!
While you’re there, hit my profile and check out my new little red sports car! I think you’ll like it. We’re working out a few things to make designing the car a little more user friendly, but they’re tested and working great. Stay tuned as we’re going to open the flood gates any day now.
Also, as an elected official, I need to reach out to you, my constituents, and see if you like the direction of the site. Please drop a line and let us know what you’d like to see, and if we’re developing the site in a positive direction.
Thanks for your continued support!

does that sound?
The mayor is hinting at some very cool features that are coming down the pipe in PixelYork soon. Can’t wait until I grab myself a car and get to pimp (errr, customize) it like my apartment. Sweet! Maybe it will be an undercover cop car, so I can keep an eye out on all of you. Just kidding. The Facebook app also sounds interesting considering I always like fancying up my profile, and what beats placing my apartment on my page. How cool is that?
Lastly, I wanted to give us some props and share with you all some recent posts from other writers in the blogosphere who are talking about CityPixel:
I hope you enjoyed the articles! Don’t hesitate to put us on your blog, who knows I might just give you back a shout out.

Greetings Citizens!
I’m pleased to announce that, like Deval Patrick, I’m driving a lovely new sports car. Naturally, it was through taxation, and special favors that I was able to acquire this little gem. It’s like a ruby on wheels! I also get a special parking space outside my apartment so it’s always available. Well… I just wanted to thank you all.
In appreciation, I’d like for all my citizens to have one (at a modest pixel fee - but still free)!
We’re working hard to get parking allocated for everyone, and it should be any day now. Keep an eye on your profiles, and shoot to be the first person on your block with a sporty new car or truck!
Also, if you’re a facebook fan, we’re testing a new feature to bring your very own customized apartment or cube into your facebook account. If you want to help the testing process just drop us a line and we’ll see what we can do.
There’s a lot more on the horizon so stay tuned to citypixel.com!

That’s right, as the great Jimmy Buffet titled his song, the same goes for the climate in CityPixel. As folks around the globe are preparing for the heavy hurricane season, just ask those in Jamaica about Hurricane Dean: http://apnews.myway.com/article/20070819/D8R43I500.htm, citizens of PixelYork can rest assure that they will always have great weather. Sunny, blue skies, what more can you ask for?
With the financial markets already in flux the last few weeks, the US can’t afford another incident like Katrina. Lets hope for the best and wish that this will be a calm hurricane season this year. As for the volatility in the stock exchange recently, the housing market seems to be crashing in the US, but remember CityPixel continues to offer FREE properties in either an Apartment or an Office Cube, with 0% interest (duh, it’s free)! You can’t beat that, can you? Plus you are able to design to your liking with free furniture and if you really want to get fancy, pick up some premium furniture with your ‘Pixels’! Grab some space now before it runs out. And lookout for new types of “properties” you can own in the future!
Lastly earn some more pixels by answering this hurricane related trivia question. First three to email me correctly wins.
PixelTrivia of the Week
Please give me the history of naming hurricanes. When did this begin, how were names chosen, was it always done this way, etc.?
Good luck!
