Hey guys,

We’re working on alot of cool things at the moment and we need help! We’re looking for a web developer with experience working on Flash widgets, particularly those integrated into social networks (ex. Facebook applications). Backend would be PHP.

Please email cpixel.jobs@gmail.com with your portfolio if interested.

So amid all of the performance enhancement drugs (HGH and steroids) conversations, baseball season is just around the corner as spring training started for many teams this past weekend. Not quite Legends Field in Tampa where the Yankees are preparing for 2008, but PixelYork is now home to it’s very own baseball diamond that can be found on 2100-2600 Wall Street.

Pixel York Baseball Stadium

Check it out when you get a chance. We promise there won’t be Andy Pettitte defending his story or a Roger Clemens sighting here, just good old clean and fun baseball. I know it’s not quite the new (or old) Yankees and Shea Stadiums, but it’s a start. Enjoy!

So as I reflect from my second world tour in the past couple months I realize we need more distinctive landmarks from around the globe at CityPixel. As the mayor hasd mentioned in his previous post, look for new pixel cities in the near future. Who wouldn’t want to see a pixel- Glockenspiel like you can find at Marienplatz in Munich or Big Ben and the Eye in London? Oh and who can forget the Eiffel Tower or the Arc found in Paris. Please share with us which cities you want to see pixelated in the future and the landmark you most would like modeled!

I missed a lot while I was gone, some Presidential primaries and caucuses around the country like in New Hampshire and Iowa, with no clear-cut leader from either party as Barak and Hillary duke it out for the Democratic nomination and a three headed race between McCain, Huckabee, and Romney…Sorry Guiliani, but the race is over for you. (Maybe a VP candidate?) It was not good to see the dollar weaken even more, especially amid some more write-downs from banks due to the sub-prime crisis. Are we in a recession yet? MLB went to Congress and what was accomplished? Too bad for Miguel Tejada, who came out the biggest loser. Atleast on the sports front, one Manning is still in the playoffs, and his name ain’t Peyton. Wahoo Eli, go BLUE! And oh yeah Britney Spears is still crazy!

As for technical news, the CES went by without any big splashes out of Las Vegas, unless you think the LG Watch Phone is cool. As for MacWorld, also a snoozer, as Apple unveiled their smallest laptop to date, the Macbook Air. I am more interested in the new Apple TV and iTunes’ movie rental service. TV viewing is changing as the internet evolves and Apple is positioning itself for those changes. While on the discussion of streaming movies online, remember you can link to your favorite YouTube videos to TVs that you can hang up on your custom apartment and cube walls. That’s right, you can share your favorite variation of “The New Haircut” with all citizens of PixelYork! Yaegar bomb, yaegar bomb!?!?!

Greetings Citizens:

As your mayor, I just wanted to point out a nice article on Fred Cavazza’s blog. Fred points out different statistics for virtual worlds, as well as mapping them all out by category. You can see the full article here:

http://www.fredcavazza.net/2007/10/04/virtual-universes-landscape/

2008 will likey spawn more competition,  but citypixel will rise to the ocassion. Look for new baseball park throughout the city, a huge shopping mall, garages for multiple cars, and much more.

We’re also looking to partner with other social networking services to expand what we offer. Maybe even partner with someone who rhymes with spacecook.

Finally, I’d like to thank you all for checking out the site, and submitting the comments that have helped us grow. This year we’ll be rewarding those people who are doing their best to spread the good word.

Happy Holidays to all!

As some of you may have experienced recently there were some outages on our servers due to year-end maintenance causing instabilities within PixelYork. We apologize for the interruption at CityPixel and have put in measures to prevent similar outages in the future. Thanks again for everyone’s support!

Happy Holidays!

Greetings Citizens:

Just a quick note to inform you of some upgrades we’re working on…

First, the homepage has been revisited. The current static statistics will be updated automatically. Also, the featured cubes, cars and apartments will be rotated a lot more often. (Keep an eye out for yourself - then tell all your friends!)

Next, the toolbar inside PixelYork is being updated. We’ve been getting feedback on the user interface, and we’re reacting to it as quickly as possible. Hopefully the changes make youe experience inside our little digital city better.

Finally, our myspace and facebook plug-ins/apps are coming along nicely. A few people are testing them for us now. If you’re interested in helping, drop me a line and we’ll get the ball rolling.

In closing, I just want to point out that you will notice that you’re receiving more pixels every time you log in. Keep exploring the city, keep making friends, and use those pixels!

Hey Citizens,

Mayor here. Just wanted to draw your attention to the new arcade. It’s on Northern Ave. I’m in there chillin’ as I type. Just played tennis courtesy of miniclip.com!

While you’re there, hit my profile and check out my new little red sports car! I think you’ll like it. We’re working out a few things to make designing the car a little more user friendly, but they’re tested and working great. Stay tuned as we’re going to open the flood gates any day now.

Also, as an elected official, I need to reach out to you, my constituents, and see if you like the direction of the site. Please drop a line and let us know what you’d like to see, and if we’re developing the site in a positive direction.

Thanks for your continued support!

does that sound?

The mayor is hinting at some very cool features that are coming down the pipe in PixelYork soon. Can’t wait until I grab myself a car and get to pimp (errr, customize) it like my apartment. Sweet! Maybe it will be an undercover cop car, so I can keep an eye out on all of you. Just kidding. The Facebook app also sounds interesting considering I always like fancying up my profile, and what beats placing my apartment on my page. How cool is that?

Lastly, I wanted to give us some props and share with you all some recent posts from other writers in the blogosphere who are talking about CityPixel:

A cool video

I hope you enjoyed the articles! Don’t hesitate to put us on your blog, who knows I might just give you back a shout out.
